Garage 48 Design Hackathon at Lakehub, Kisumu Kenya.

Principles of good design are timeless. But as a digital designer, you are always reaching for something more inventive, innovative and inspiring. Design hackathons are incredible platforms for designers whether beginners, experienced designers keeping an eye on the rapid technological innovations, or just beginning to explore the possibilities of becoming the most creative designer. As you feed your creativity and climb a step higher in your career, it will be of great use to stay up to date, explore available options within the leading game changers in Tech spaces and sometimes it’s just simply fun to join a design hackathon and experience what other people are doing!

Garage 48 recently announced the Design Hackathons in Kenya to empower the local talents in digital design and prototyping skills. Design Hackathon Kenya series is organized as a part of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid and in partnership with Pangea Accelerator, Ibiz Africa, and Strathmore University in Nairobi, Lakehub in Kisumu, and Swahilipot HUB in Mombasa.

Having successfully completed two design hackathon series in Nairobi and Kisumu respectively; here’s is your opportunity to register for the Mombasa design hackathon and kick start your journey in digital design, https://garage48.org/events/design-hackathon.

Born of a desire to support emerging talent and ideas, the Design Hackathon workshop offers an introduction to digital design and product development. While at it, the participants will also learn:

· Visual design principles

· user experience (UX) design fundamentals

· how to listen and observe users

· use basic design tools

· branding fundamentals and insights into why people buy brands

· real-world tips and tricks

· a clear understanding of the principles and benefits of good user experience (UX) and how to apply it to your design

· how to work in a team

· pitching

The Design Hackathon has been designed in a way that counters myths of the creative industries, showing aspiring female designers everything that goes into the basics of design; and in the process, unveiling to them what their potential might be.

Opening a new way to Design Thinking

‘There are so many talented designers out there who possess keen eyes and boundless imagination, innovation, and creativity and simply need a bit more guidance to take their design careers to the next level,’ says Jaanus Sakkis, Creative Director and Founder at Feks Design. ‘Whether they choose to devote themselves to the development of products that fill our physical spaces, or whether they’d rather help create new online experiences, we’re excited to give them the tools and skills that will serve as much-needed roadmaps.’
